Born and raised in Southeastern Virginia, Noel Nielsen moved to Austin 9 years ago from Kailua, Hawaii. Studying History at the University of Hawaii, her 7-year residency in the islands provided her with a unique perspective on multiculturalism and the struggles of indigenous people in the US. With a background in sales and finance, Noel currently works in fundraising in the non-profit sector as part of the Annual Giving team in Development and External Relations at the McComb’s School of Business.
Noel considers herself a full-time volunteer and has been an active member of the Junior League of Austin for 6 years. This involvement has allowed her to pursue her interest in women’s issues and voluntarism, and has also afforded her a deep and meaningful relationship with numerous Austin-area non-profits. During her time with the League, Noel has held a number of Executive appointments including two-time placements on the Researchers Committee, and Placement Committee, a three-time placement on the Project Chair Committee, and is currently serving as Community Placement Coordinator. She has also served as a non-voting Board member for the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Austin.
Though Noel is a staunch and lifelong Democrat, her involvement with Lake Travis Progressives is her first foray into political activism.
